The Peugeot 205 is known as “the strongest number” of Peugeot. And rightly so, because the Peugeot 205 saved the brand from destruction in the early eighties. The 205 was very successful and remained in production for almost 15 years (1984-1998). The strongest number was the Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9.
The Peugeot 205 five-door version came on the market in February 1983, it would be a direct sales hit for the French car brand. The three-door hatchback followed a year later.
In 1984 Peugeot introduced the 205 GTi with a 1,580 cc injection engine with 105 hp, followed later by the 115 hp version. The GTi was only available as a three-door. In 1987 the Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi was launched, with a 130 hp 1.905 cc engine. Just like the GTi 1.6, this sporty model was very popular among young car owners.
In September 1998 the curtain finally fell in Europe for the Peugeot 205 and the model was replaced by the Peugeot 206, which would also become a success.
This 205 GTi is equipped with a glass sliding roof which is operated by hand, air conditioning, electric windows and sports exhaust.
