For sale Jaguar E-type Serie 1 Roadster 4.2 in the colour Opelescent Silver Grey with a blue leather interior and a black mohair soft top. This Jaguar E-type was built on April 5, 1967 and shipped on April 21, 1967 to Copenhagen in Denmark. There is a copy of a handwritten document from the Danish Jaguar Importer Sommer that this Jaguar was delivered to two men from the Thule Airbase in Greenland.
Thule Air Base is an air base of the United States Air Force and is owned by the United States. The base is in Greenland and is outside Greenland’s government territory.
The Jaguar E-type Series 1 was introduced in Europe on March 15, 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show and in the United States in April 1961 at the New York Motor Show. When the car was first shown, Enzo Ferrari called it the most beautiful car ever.
The E-type was designed as a two-seater Coupé (FHC) and a two-seater roadster (OTS). The Series 1 got a 3.8 litre 6 inline engine that came from the Jaguar XK150S. In 1964 the engine capacity was increased to 4.2 litres. The Series 1 had a top speed of 150 mph.
All E-types had independent suspension and power-assisted disc brakes on the four wheels, two unusual features for the time. The 3.8 litre versions had leather-covered bucket seats, a centrally placed alloy instrument panel, which was finished in vinyl and leather from 1963 onwards.
The 4.2 litre versions had more comfortable seats, improved brakes and electronics and a synchronized first gear. Both versions had closed headlights. A 2 + 2 compartment version was also added in 1966. This had an extended wheelbase and could be obtained with an automatic gearbox. At the end of 1967, the Jaguar E-type Series 1 was succeeded by the Jaguar E-type Series 1.5 which was succeeded by the Series 2 and finally the Series 3 with V12 engine.
This Jaguar E-type Series 1 roadster was fully restored in the Netherlands between 2016 and 2018, a complete overview of this restoration is available in our sales folder. Everything has been done to get the car in this condition. After restoration, approximately 800 kilometres has been driven with this E-type
Recently, this E-type has been completely checked by Jaguar Specialist Real Car Restoration and we have replaced the original rear axle for a differential with a long ratio, so that you can now also drive on the highway with low revs. This is a very fine adjustment. The following options are also fitted, Alloy radiator with two cooling fans, stainless steel exhaust manifolds, a stainless steel exhaust, a Moto-lita wooden sports steering wheel and a mohair hood cover.
The car comes with a sales folder containing invoices of work performed and purchased parts, photos, a Heritage certificate and an appraisal report. Everything very well documented.
